Chicago

You'll have a great selection of neighborhoods to choose from if you want to make Chicago your new home.

Welcome to Chicago

A big city with small-town values and midwestern charm

Chicago is the third biggest city in the United States, with a population of around 2.7 million. Despite its size, Chicago feels much warmer and more welcoming than larger cities like Los Angeles and New York. That could be because it's in the heart of the midwest. Or because it has a long history of inclusivity and grit. Whatever the reasons, Chicago is a big city that instantly feels comfortable. It offers world-class dining and entertainment, some of the best shopping in the world, and a property market bursting with excellent upscale properties.

You'll have a great selection of neighborhoods to choose from if you want to make Chicago your new home. Browse brownstones in Lincoln Park, or discover the foodie scene in West Loop. Enjoy walkable luxury within Lake View. Or immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the vibrant Logan Square. Whatever lifestyle you want to achieve, it's available for you here in Chicago.

Local Lifestyle

Chicago is a friendly big city. People here are generally warm and welcoming, reflecting their midwestern heritage. Your lifestyle will largely depend on where you choose to live within Chicago. The city has 77 different neighborhoods, each with its unique personality and style. You might opt to live in the serene surroundings of Hyde Park or prefer the buzzing nightlife found in Bucktown. The good thing about Chicago is that whatever you want, it has. From great outdoor recreation to fine dining and world-class shopping, everything you want is a short drive away. Many of the neighborhoods are walkable, too, making it even more convenient to access their many amenities.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Chicago is known for its food, and that goes for more than its deep-dish pizza. Chicago offers everything from Michelin-starred restaurants to hole-in-the-wall places only known by the locals. Start with a night out at Oriole in the West Loop, a restaurant offering an upscale tasting menu that varies from evening to evening.

Or head to Birrieria Zaragoza in Archer Heights, which serves Mexican-style goat on homemade tortillas. Kyoten in Logan Square is a must-try night out if you are craving sushi. You'll have to book weeks in advance, but the wait is worth it for some of the best fresh fish in the world. Chicago also has a thriving coffee shop scene, with Sputnik Coffee currently reigning supreme with its small-batch blends.

Things to Do

Chicago offers some of everything, no matter your hobbies or interests. Golfers will want to visit the 18-hole course at Harborside International Golf Center, which also has an excellent restaurant. Music aficionados should check out Lincoln Hall, a smaller venue hosting big names with a great cocktail bar. Kids will love exploring the Museum of Science and Industry, the largest science museum in the western hemisphere, and the Chicago Children's Museum. In warmer months, Lake Michigan is the hub of activity in Chicago, with many waterside festivals, restaurants, and sports available.
