JACKSON HOLE’S WINTER WONDERLAND

JACKSON HOLE’S WINTER WONDERLAND

Jackson Hole, the valley between the Teton Mountain Range and the Gros Ventre Range in Wyoming and the gateway two national parks, Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park, perches over 6,200 feet above sea level and sits amidst some of the most stunning alpine scenery in the world. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is considered one of the premier ski resorts in the United States, and taking the tram 4,139 vertical feet to ski champagne powder will definitely give you bragging rights.

Here, I am listing my top things to see and do in Jackson Hole this winter on and off the slopes. Of course, you will most likely be visiting Jackson Hole Mountain Resort – consistently ranked among the best ski areas in North America – but I have a few things I like doing that doesn’t include skiing.

To start, I should mention that Jackson Hole is the most accessible resort in the Rockies with non-stop flights from 12 major US cities including Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Newark, JFK, Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Seattle, Denver, and Salt Lake City. After a recent $30 million renovation and expansion to the impressive Jackson Hole Airport, arrival and departure in and out of the Tetons is a total breeze, not to mention efficient and comfortable.

Ski Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is just a short 30-minute drive from the terminal, making the JHMR experience more accessible than most comparable resorts. The last three consecutive seasons report 500+ inches for the best snow in the west. Between snow and visitor totals, Jackson Hole’s 2018/19 season was one for the record books! With 2,500 acres of in-bound terrain, you will find yourself always exploring. After skiing, there are apres locations such as the Mangy Moose and The Handlebar that you won’t want to miss.

Take a Cross-Country/Nordic Ski Tour

While experiencing Jackson Hole, nothing quite compares to seeing the breathtaking natural beauty while cross-country skiing. My wife and I find ourselves doing this more than you will find us at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Bring as many friends and family along for the tour. Cross country skiing provides an incredible opportunity to explore the pristine winter of Grand Teton National Park and surrounding national forest land in Jackson Hole. Observe the winter forest in solitude and tranquility as you glide through beautiful alpine meadows.

Explore the Surroundings

There’s simply so much beautiful terrain to discover around Jackson Hole that exploring clad in snowshoes, by foot, or by fat bike is a must. Grand Teton National Park is a popular place to explore, though there are also a number of trails near town that are regularly maintained and groomed such as Cache Creek Canyon. There’s the option of guided tours or solo walks. My wife and I love taking our fat tire bikes or snowshoes to Grand Teton National Park and Cache Creek Canyon.

Winter is one of the best times to be in Jackson Hole and there is so much to do on and off the slopes in Jackson Hole. I would be more than happy to be your guide to the Teton lifestyle or can answer any of your questions. Feel free to reach out anytime.
